The aim of this review study is to discuss potential wood preservatives in geothermal fluids and their appropriateness for wood protection. In the study, contents and ecological effects of geothermal fluids were obtained from government data source and individual publications. Data were compared with conventional preservatives and regulations in environmental protection and chemical utilization. Eventually, geothermal fluids were found to be appropriate for wood treatments. Because, geothermal fluids contain high amount of water soluble materials. Therefore, they are specified as “water–borne preservatives”. Their ecological effects can create toxicity against harmful biological agents. Moreover, concentration, temperature, pressure and pH of geothermal fluids varied between 0.01–23127mg/L, 30.25–130.50ï‚°C, ≥10bar and 6.50–8.77, respectively. However, their utilization in wood preservation should be tested with different testing methods.Keywords: Wood, Geothermal fluid, Impregnation
Çalışmanın amacı, jeotermal akışkanlardaki potansiyel emprenye maddelerini ve bunların ahşap emprenyesi için uygunluklarını tartışmaktır. Çalışmada, sözkonusu akışların içerikleri ve ekolojik etkileri MTA Genel Müdürlüğü ve ilgili münferit yayınlardan temin edilmiştir. Bulgular, çevre ve kimyasal maddelerle ilgili mevzuatlarla ve geleneksel ahşap emprenye maddeleriyle karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuçta, jeotermik sıvılar ahşap emprenye işlerine uygun bulunmuştur. Çünkü jeotermal akışkanlar, erimiş halde en çok bulunan kimyasallar bakımından suda çözünen emprenye maddeleri sınıfına girmektedir. Ekolojik etkileri, biyotik zararlılara karşı zehirli olabilecek niteliktedir. Ayrıca derişim, sıcaklık, basınç ve pH değerleri, sırasıyla, 0.01–23127mg/L, 30.25–130.50ï‚°C, ≥10bar ve 6.50–8.77 arasında değişmiştir.
